Conceived in the office of former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan in 1998, and established as a not-for-profit corporation in 2000, Genesis LA is Los Angeles County’s leading community-based non-profit organization utilizing innovative market-driven financing strategies to stimulate development projects in low-income communities. Bringing capital and capacity to inner city neighborhoods lies at the core of our mission. Our developmental expertise is employed to make projects happen. By offering low cost loans and consulting services to inner city borrowers, impossible dreams have become realities.

Genesis LA makes it easier for overcrowded communities to obtain services, secure good jobs, and find affordable housing in their own neighborhoods by bringing together the right components for each project. All too often, projects are not constructed because they fail to meet certain underwriting criteria necessary to secure financial support from either the public or the private sector. Genesis LA's primary role is to join forces with both sectors to infuse under-served areas of Los Angeles with capital to make sure much needed development becomes reality.
